Some Lesser Known Facts About Nihita Biswas
- Nihita Biswas gained prominence as a Nepali advocate, primarily recognized as the spouse of the infamous French serial killer Charles Sobhraj. Charles, currently serving a life sentence in Kathmandu’s central jail for the murder of an American citizen in Nepal back in 1975. In 2008, Nihita tied the knot with Charles, and her fame escalated in 2011 when she became a participant on the popular Indian reality TV show, Bigg Boss season 5.
- Similar to Charles Sobhraj, Nihita also hails from a mixed heritage. Her father, a Bengali businessman from Kolkata, and her mother, a renowned Nepali lawyer, came together in matrimony. However, Nihita’s parents went their separate ways during her early years.
- Nihita Biswas and her mother exited the Supreme Court of Nepal following a court hearing where her mother had represented Charles Sobhraj, but unfortunately failed to secure his acquittal.
- Nihita’s proficiency in French led to her initial encounter with Sobhraj, where she served as an interpreter for his French lawyer. While Sobhraj was immediately smitten, Nihita gradually developed feelings for the Frenchman after a series of brief meetings. Within just three months of their first encounter, they became engaged. On June 5, 2008, Nihita proudly showcased her engagement ring amidst a swarm of media cameras.

- Nihita Biswas, the first Nepali citizen to participate in the Indian reality competition television show Bigg Boss, unfortunately, could only last for a week before being evicted. Sanjay Dutt, the former host of Bigg Boss, graciously welcomed her to the show.
- While Nihita was in the Bigg Boss house, a contestant asked her if she had ever been intimate with Charles. Nihita avoided answering the question, but her mother Shakuntala was furious about the contestant’s behavior, which she expressed in a media interview. Shakuntala was shocked by the question and stated that she never expected such sensationalism or ignorance in our conservative society in Nepal. She also pointed out that Sobhraj is currently in jail, while Nihita is not. Shakuntala couldn’t understand how the topic of having a sexual relationship with a prisoner could even arise.
