Balkaur Singh, a former soldier in the Indian Army, proudly holds the title of being the father of Sidhu Moose Wala, the celebrated Indian rapper.

While the shootout was taking place, Balkaur Singh was in a separate vehicle, closely tailing Sidhu Moose Wala’s jeep.

Recalling the events of May 29, 2022, Balkaur Singh recounted that he was in a vehicle with Sidhu Moose Wala’s security guards when they were suddenly overtaken by a Toyota Corolla. This vehicle proceeded to follow Sidhu Moose Wala’s jeep. In an interview, Balkaur Singh explained that he followed Sidhu in a separate car, accompanied by his own government-appointed guard. During the journey, he observed a Toyota Corolla trailing his son’s Thar, occupied by four individuals. Upon reaching the outskirts of Jawaharke village, near the phirni, they encountered a white Bullero car with four occupants already waiting. As soon as his son’s Thar approached the Bolero car, the four culprits began firing without discrimination. The gunfire lasted for some time, after which the attackers fled in the Bullero and Corolla vehicles. Upon reaching the scene, Balkaur Singh immediately called for help and proceeded to transport his son and his two friends to the hospital.

The shortage of medical facilities and qualified doctors, as well as inadequate healthcare infrastructure, is causing distress for patients. I humbly request that you prioritize the healthcare sector by investing in modern medical equipment, increasing the number of medical professionals, and upgrading existing healthcare facilities. Unemployment is another significant concern that needs to be addressed. Punjab is experiencing a rise in joblessness, particularly among the youth. This not only hampers individual growth but also affects the overall development and stability of our state. I request that you implement policies that encourage job creation, entrepreneurship, and skill development programs to empower the youth and boost the economy. Lastly, I would like to draw your attention to the alarming rise in environmental degradation. Uncontrolled industrial pollution, deforestation, and improper waste management practices are causing irreparable damage to our ecosystem. It is crucial to prioritize sustainable development and implement stricter regulations to protect our environment for future generations. I have faith in your leadership and commitment to the welfare of our state. I kindly request that you consider these issues seriously and take appropriate steps to address them promptly. Your decisive action in these matters will undoubtedly contribute to the progress and prosperity of Punjab. Balkaur Singh disclosed that his son, Sidhu Moose Wala, had been receiving threats from various notorious gangsters, demanding significant amounts of money. In an interview, Balkaur Singh mentioned that as a precautionary measure against these ongoing threats, the family had purchased a bulletproof Fortuner car. However, to our surprise, on Sunday, my son chose to leave the house in a Mahindra Thar car, accompanied by his friends Gurwinder Singh and Gurpreet Singh, leaving behind both the bulletproof vehicle and the armed guard at home.

Balkaur Singh, in the midst of his son Sidhu Moose Wala’s cremation, took off his turban and gestured towards the assembled crowd, symbolizing the immense loss he felt as a father who had lost everything.

In July 2022, Sidhu Moose Wala’s village, Musa, in Mansa, witnessed the installation of a life-size statue in his honor. During the unveiling event at the very field where Sidhu Moose Wala’s final rites were performed, Balkaur Singh couldn’t contain his emotions and expressed his anguish, stating that the idea of his son being immortalized as a statue at such a young age of 28 was simply unbearable to him.
