  • At just 22 years old, Safin Hasan has achieved the remarkable feat of becoming the youngest IPS officer in India. Hailing from the Gujarat cadre, he has earned this prestigious title.
  • At the age of one and a half years, Safin Hasan began his primary education in a government school that taught in the Gujarati medium.
  • During his formative years, Safin Hasan’s family faced financial hardship. To sustain their needs, his father took up part-time work as an electrician, while his mother worked as a domestic cook in their community. Additionally, she tirelessly worked at banquet halls and restaurants to support Safin’s education. A treasured photograph immortalizes Safin Hasan’s early memories, showcasing him with his cherished mother, Naseembanu.
  • After achieving a remarkable 92% in his class 10 board exams, he made the decision to pursue the Science stream. To facilitate his education, a local school in his district generously reduced his school fees by over 50%. As he entered class 11, he embarked on the journey of learning English.
  • During his summer and winter breaks, he would provide tutoring to young children as a means to earn extra money.
  • During Safin’s time at school, a Collector had made a visit to his educational institution. Safin was taken aback by the sight of his teachers, principal, and everyone else treating the Collector with great reverence, as if he were royalty. Curiosity sparked within him, prompting Safin to inquire his aunt about the reason behind such respect. His aunt proceeded to enlighten him, revealing that the position of an IAS officer held immense prestige and could be attained by anyone through diligent studying. It was on that very day that Safin made a firm decision to pursue a career in the Civil Services.
  • During an interview, Mrs. Jarinaben mentioned that they were the ones who provided the funds for his Civil Services coaching and examination expenses in New Delhi.

  • While in Delhi, preparing for the UPSC exams, he would often seek guidance from IAS and IPS officers through frequent meetings.
  • Safin Hasan, shown in the middle, is passionate about engaging in social work and dedicating time to those in need. Additionally, he actively volunteers for numerous non-governmental organizations during his leisure hours. In the photograph, Safin is seen surrounded by children residing in the slums.
  • In 2017, during his journey to take the UPSC examination for the first time, he encountered an accident that left him injured in his hand, leg, and head. Despite these setbacks, his determination remained unbroken, and he persevered to reach the examination center. Following the exam, Hasan required hospitalization due to the severity of his injuries. A surgical procedure became necessary as he had suffered a Tier 3 injury to his knee ligament.
  • He achieved an All India Rank of 570 in the UPSC examination in 2018.
  • Safin Hasan arrived at the UPSC center for his interview on 23 March 2018. However, prior to this, he had faced some health issues. On 20 February 2018, he was admitted to the hospital due to a urinary infection, which had caused his White Blood Cells (WBC) count to exceed the upper limit. After being discharged on 1 March 2018, he had to return home just two days later as his tonsils were problematic and his WBC count had risen to 30,000. Fortunately, he was discharged on 15 March 2018 and was able to attend the interview. Despite his health struggles, Safin Hasan performed exceptionally well in the Personality Test, achieving the second-highest score.
  • After being chosen as an IPS officer, he received interviews from various news channels and radio shows. Additionally, the Gujarat Chief Minister, Vijay Rupani, honored and felicitated him, with Safin Hasan accompanying CM Vijay Rupani.
  • Despite being selected as an IPS officer, his aspiration was to become an IAS officer. During an interview, he expressed his desire by stating,

Although I initially aspired to join the IAS, I was unable to pass the exam. Consequently, I have chosen to pursue a career as an IPS officer, utilizing this opportunity to serve my country.
