• Akhil Marar, an Indian director primarily known for his work in Malayalam cinemas, rose to prominence following his triumphant participation in the reality show Big Boss Malayalam Season Five, aired on Asianet.

• After completing his Bachelor’s degree, Akhil joined a medical company as a representative. He later advanced to the position of area manager in another medical company. However, due to his breakup with his girlfriend, Akhil made the decision to resign from his job.

• Following his departure from his position at the medical company, Akhil wasted no time in establishing a juice kiosk called Alchemist in Kottathala, Kollam District, Kerala. During an interview, Akhil delved into the details of his juice shop and shed light on the reasoning behind its name. He explained that he drew inspiration from a book that instilled in him the courage to chase after his dreams, prompting him to resign from his government job and embark on a journey toward his ultimate goal. Abandoning his studies and career, he took a leap into the realm of entrepreneurship by launching a juice shop to sustain himself, fittingly christening it after his beloved book, “Alchemist.”
• At first, Akhil’s occupation involved working as an agriculturist where he engaged in cultivating crops both at a farm located near his house in Kerala, as well as on his house’s terrace.

• Akhil made his debut as an assistant director in 2015 with the Malayalam film Perariyathavar (English translation: Names Unknown).

• In 2021, Akhil took on the role of director for the Malayalam film Oru Thathvika Avalokanam. During an interview, he shared his experience of directing the movie and mentioned that despite the initial plan of shooting for 40 days, there was a growing demand to complete it within 30 days and eventually within 25 days. This forced him to condense certain parts of the script and complete it within the limited timeframe. In a rush to edit the film, the producer gathered a group of 10 people to watch the unfinished footage, even though it lacked dubbing. After viewing the video file, many comments were made. Unfortunately, I responded with arrogance and lack of appreciation, which led the producer to forbid my participation in the editing process. • Akhil marked his television debut in 2023 as a contestant on the reality show Big Boss Malayalam Season 5, which aired on Asianet and Disney+ Hotstar. The show was hosted by the renowned actor Mohanlal.

• Shortly after Akhil’s participation in Big Boss Malayalam Season five, an interview with him went viral on the internet. In the interview, he expressed his reluctance to be a part of the reality show, stating that he had never been interested in it. Akhil emphasized that he had never even watched a single episode of Bigg Boss in his entire life, and instead preferred to visit Lulu Mall and randomly select four individuals from the crowd on the road for entertainment. Despite his initial reservations, Akhil emerged as the winner during the show’s grand finale on July 2, 2023. He was awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh. Reneesha Rahiman secured the first runner-up position, while Junaiz VP was announced as the second runner-up. Akhil Marar was crowned the champion of Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 5.
