The Men Behind The Bigg Boss Voice

There are actually two individuals who often confuse many of us. Yes, you heard it correctly – there are not one, but two men who lend their voices to the show. These men are Atul Kapoor and Vijay Vikram Singh. If you are a follower of the show, you may have noticed two distinct voices, one declaring, “Bigg Boss Chahte Hain” and the other stating, “11 January, Raat 8 Baje!”. So, let’s explore the differences between the two remarkable voices – Atul Kapoor, our true Bigg Boss, and Vijay Vikram Singh, the captivating narrator of the show. Both men excel in their respective roles. Let’s dive deeper into their backgrounds.

The Real Bigg Boss: Atul Kapoor

Atul Kapoor, born on December 28, 1966, in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, has been an active dubbing artist in the industry since 2002. Graduating from Lucknow University, he is skilled in both English and Hindi. With a vast experience in providing voice-overs for numerous English films and even making Bigg Boss contestants dance to his tunes, Kapoor remains a private individual despite his collaborations with famous Hollywood actors.

Despite being seen with a few of the Bigg Boss contestants, this 51-year-old voice-over artist has never publicly disclosed any information about himself to the media. His notable works include dubbing for characters such as Chatter Telephone in ‘Toy Story 3’, Professor James Moriarty in ‘Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows’, Alexander Toombs in ‘The Chronicles of Riddick’, J.A.R.V.I.S. in ‘The Avengers’, ‘Iron Man 2’, and ‘Iron Man 3’, as well as Eric in ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’.

The Narrator (Bigg Boss): Vijay Vikram Singh

Vijay Vikram Singh, known for his powerful baritone voice, serves as the second voice heard at the start and end of Bigg Boss. Many viewers mistakenly assume he is the actual voice of Bigg Boss, as his narration skills are just as impactful as Atul Kapoor’s.

Vijay Vikram Singh, originally from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, was born into a middle-class family on 26 November 1977. Despite excelling in his career as a Business Development Manager at an MNC, he found himself captivated by a compliment from a female friend about his voice. This led him to question what else he could do with his vocal abilities, as he believed he couldn’t sing. In 2005, when he was relocated to Mumbai by his company, his new friends in the city encouraged him to explore opportunities to utilize his voice more effectively.

Vijay Vikram Singh was approached by a friend who suggested he join 92.7 Big FM as a Business Development Manager, a role that would enable him to enhance his voice modulation skills in different scenarios. After discussing his career shift with his wife, Geetanjali Singh, she fully supported his decision and he subsequently joined the radio station.

Vijay Vikram Singh embarked on his journey as a voice-over artist when he joined Dance India Dance Season 1 in 2009. Since then, he has remained an integral part of the team. However, his breakthrough moment came when he was selected for Bigg Boss Season 4, propelling his career to new heights. From that point on, Vijay has lent his voice to numerous reality shows and TV commercials, such as DID, Nach Baliye 6, Sahara One, Neo cricket, Wanted High Alert, Promos for Star Gold, Music India, and Bigg Boss (season 4 and onwards), among many others.

In addition to being an RJ on 94.3 My FM’s radio show ‘Chandani Ratein’, Vijay Vikram Singh has also ventured into acting. He showcased his skills by taking on the role of ‘Chanakya’ in the play ‘Alexander VS Chanakya’ in 2016. While Atul Kapoor is known for his private nature, Vijay Vikram Singh is eager to push his boundaries and explore new opportunities.

Both men play vital roles in the show and excel at their respective jobs. The voice has garnered a significant fan base during the entire Bigg Boss journey, particularly among the contestants. The bond between the two is incredibly strong, resembling that of brothers.
