Some Lesser Known Facts About Fahadh Faasil
- Fahadh Faasil primarily acts in Telugu and Malayalam movies as an Indian actor.
- The individual was born into a family that practiced Islam. [9]The Quint
- In an interview, he mentioned his experience as a college dropout from an engineering program. In the United States, changing majors after the first two years would result in the loss of financial aid. As a result, his declining grades led his advisor to schedule a counseling session. During this session, he gathered the courage to admit that he had been neglecting his true passion and ambitions as an actor, and that pursuing a career in measurements was not what he truly desired in life. Fortunately, his advisor took the initiative to write to the dean on his behalf, leading to his transfer to the art school. Although he returned home without a degree after spending six years in America, he found comfort in the realization that not having a degree granted him the freedom to start fresh in any field.
- Produced by his father, his first Malayalam film ‘Kaiyethum Doorath’ (2002) did not perform well commercially. During an interview, he openly admitted to his acting failure and took full responsibility for it. He urged others not to blame his father as it was solely his own fault for entering the profession unprepared.
- After completing his studies in the US, he made his way back to India and made his debut in the Malayalam film ‘Kerala Cafe’ (2009). The film’s poster is displayed here.
- In the year 2010, he had roles in four Malayalam movies namely ‘Pramani,’ ‘Cocktail,’ ‘Tournament,’ and ‘Best of Luck.’ One of the film posters is for ‘Best of Luck’ released in 2010.
- The 2011 Malayalam film ‘Chaappa Kurishu’ brought him tremendous fame. However, the film received criticism due to a lengthy kissing scene, which is believed to be the first and longest of its kind in Malayalam cinema. [10] The Times of India Chaappa Kurishu movie poster.
- In the year 2013, he made appearances in twelve Malayalam films including titles such as ‘Natholi Oru Cheriya Meenalla,’ ‘Akam,’ ‘Artist,’ ‘North 24 Kaatham,’ and ‘D Company.’
- He has also acted in other Malayalam movies such as ‘Haram’ (2015), ‘Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum’ (2017), ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ (2019), and ‘Trance’ (2020). The film poster for ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ (2019) has been recreated.
- In 2014, while filming the Malayalam movie ‘Bangalore Days,’ he developed a friendship with his co-star Nazriya Nazim, who is 12 years younger than him. Eventually, their friendship blossomed into love, and they tied the knot following Muslim wedding traditions. During an interview, when asked about his wife, Faasil reminisced about the fond memories he had from his time in Bangalore. One memory, in particular, stood out as it marked the beginning of his journey with Nazriya. He mustered up the courage to ask her out through a heartfelt handwritten letter, even including a ring. Although she didn’t immediately say yes, she also didn’t outright reject the idea. Throughout the seven years, while simultaneously working on Bangalore Days and two other films, Faasil eagerly looked forward to returning to the movie set. Despite his scattered thoughts, he cherished Nazriya’s presence. Her sacrifices to be with him deeply affected him and made him question his own emotions. However, when he thought everything was coming to an end due to his own weaknesses, she reminded him that it was just one simple life and encouraged him to gather his belongings and anyone he needed. She had once promised to take care of him for the rest of their days, a declaration no other woman had ever made to him before. Who wouldn’t desire a love like that?
- Amal Neerad’s Malayalam music video “Nee” showcased him in 2018.
- The National Awards Ceremony 2018 was boycotted by him and several other awardees. This was due to the fact that the awards were being presented by Smriti Irani, the then Information and Broadcast Minister, rather than the President of India. [11] The Times of India reported this.
- Fahadh Faasil starred in Malayalam films ‘C U Soon’ (2020), ‘Joji’ (2021), and ‘Malik’ (2021), which were released on OTT platforms during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- According to reports, the role of SP Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat in the Telugu film ‘Pushpa: The Rise’ (2021) was initially offered to Bengali actor Jisshu Sengupta. However, Sengupta had to decline the offer due to prior work commitments, and the role eventually went to Faasil. In an interview, Allu Arjun, Faasil’s co-star, expressed his admiration for Faasil’s portrayal of the character in the film. Arjun had hoped that Faasil would take on the role, as it required a strong and captivating antagonist with a commanding presence. When Faasil agreed to join the project, it was truly incredible, and watching his live performance was a delightful experience. Despite having seen Faasil’s previous work on screen, there is still a sense of connection missing. Seeing the actor perform in person takes the immersion to a whole new level.
- As of 2022, Faasil is currently shooting for multiple films, which include ‘Malayankunju’ in Malayalam, ‘Vikram’ in Tamil, and ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’ in Telugu.
- Many Malayalam films such as ‘Kumbalangi Nights’ (2019), ‘Joji’ (2021), and ‘Thankam’ (2022) have been produced by Fahadh Faasil under his film production company ‘Fahadh Faasil and Friends’.
- Fahadh Faasil has been featured in TV commercials for multiple brands including Titan, Milma, Jos Alukkas, and UAE Exchange. One of his notable appearances is in a Titan advertisement.
- During the interview, he openly discussed his limitations and lack of self-confidence. He acknowledged that he does not consider himself an exceptional artist and harbors insecurities. However, he recognized the importance of versatility for an actor, yet confessed that he doubts his ability to portray any role presented to him. He explained that he found himself in this position out of necessity and without any other options available. As a result, he had not made any commitments regarding his availability, making the duration of his presence uncertain.

He further explained that his main challenge lies within himself, as he is not concerned with meeting others’ expectations but rather focuses solely on his own standards and aspirations. The commercial success of his films does not trouble him as long as everyone involved in the production is properly compensated and no one suffers any losses. Being the producer of his own films grants him complete autonomy and accountability. As he mentioned earlier, he is unable to pursue the work he desires unless he has full control over the production process.
- During an interview, he explained that he steered clear of working in Hindi films due to his lack of proficiency in the language. He admitted, “I’m not fluent in Hindi, so I have to mentally translate my dialogues into the language I am comfortable with.” Despite receiving multiple offers for Hindi films and having a deep admiration for the talent in Hindi cinema, he also acknowledged the remarkable progress of Malayalam cinema. He believed that in a few years, language barriers would no longer hinder the industry. Expressing gratitude, he mentioned, “Viewers in Kerala saw my movies before they were available on OTT platforms in the rest of the country. I owe my successful career to their support, which has inspired me to take on new and experimental projects.” He expressed the belief that he would not be able to create the same kind of films outside of Kerala due to the strong connection they hold with the local culture, which is why they are not remade. Ultimately, he cherished his current position and had no intention of leaving at the moment.
