In 2016, one of his admirers gifted him a a diamond-studded Hublot watch worth Rs. 70 lakhs. He was criticised for flaunting expensive gifts despite being a socialist. Many political parties adviced him to declare the luxury watch as a state asset. Controversial Remark on Hindutva
In February 2023, Siddaramaiah came into the headlines for his controversial remark on Hindutva. The incident happended during the book launch event of former congress MLA BR Patil in Kalaburagi, when Siddaramaiah while addressing the media claimed that Hindutva was for murder, violence and discrimination. He said,

“Hindutva is against Constitution. Hindutva and Hindu dharma is different. I am not against the Hindu religion. I’m a Hindu but oppose Manuvad and Hindutva.”

Inappropriate Remark on Lingayat Chief Minister
In April 2023, while giving an interview on a Kannada news channel Siddaramaiah was asked to give his views on opposition (Bharatiya Janata Party) declaring a Lingayat as their chief ministrial candidate of Karnataka to seek votes from the community, Siddaramaiah said,

“Already a Lingayat is CM. He has indulged in corruption and spoiled the state.”

His remarks were criticised by the Bharatiya Janata Party, who accused Siddaramaiah for hurting the Lingayat community. [11]Outlook India Later, Siddaramaiah clarified the matter and said that he did not mean to hurt the Lingayats with his remarks and that his statement was misrepresented. He said,

“I said Basavaraj Bommai is corrupt. I did not call the entire community corrupt.”

Criticised for visiting Temple after Non-veg Meal

In August 2022, Siddaramaiah apparently paid a visit to the Basaveshwara temple in Kodlipet after having a non-vegetarian meal. He was severely criticised by the Bharatiya Janata Party for hurting the religious sentiments of people with his act.   • Siddaramaiah, a member of the Indian National Congress, is an Indian politician. He has served as a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Karnataka nine times. Siddaramaiah was appointed as the Chief Minister of Karnataka twice, first on 13 May 2013 and then on 20 May 2023.
  • In Mysore, Karnataka, he was raised in a small village by a family living in poverty.
  • Until the age of 10, Siddaramaiah did not have the opportunity for formal education due to his involvement in assisting his father on the farms. Despite the absence of traditional schooling, he found himself participating in nearby folk art classes, where he acquired the skill of writing alphabets on sand using his fingers.
  • Siddaramaiah enrolled directly in the fifth grade at a local school in Mysore.
