• Demet Özdemir, a well-known Turkish model, actor, dancer, and comedian, rose to fame for her role in the hit Turkish TV series ‘Erkenci Kuş.’

• During the interview, when discussing her family, she revealed that her sister had entered the world of modeling before her. She explained that it was actually her sister who achieved fame first. According to her, it all started when Mehmet Ali noticed her sister in a crowd and handed her a card that said, “Your beauty is captivating, join Neşe Erbek’s agency.” Within a week of signing with the agency, her sister received her very first modeling offer. However, she decided to keep it a secret from our father and carefully considered the opportunity. Eventually, she impulsively took a train to Istanbul, much like the characters in Turkish movies. She shared a photograph from the early years of Demet Özdemir. Despite being only 19 years old, her sister was too afraid of our father to even attempt putting on makeup. In our household, wearing makeup was strictly forbidden. When I was just 8 or 9 years old, I took it upon myself to create a detailed plan for my sister’s escape. I assigned my mother the crucial role of distracting our father’s attention. We had endured countless beatings in the past, but it was my sister who suffered the most from our father’s anger and lived in constant fear of him, even more than I did.

• When she was just 7 years old, her parents went through a divorce. During an interview, she recollected the moment when they confronted their father, feeling a mix of shame and anticipation. The situation had become very serious, and they desperately tried to communicate their feelings to him, but it seemed like he wasn’t listening. He abruptly commanded them to leave the room, unable to bear any more of their words. Overwhelmed with sadness, her sister and she sought comfort in their locked room, shedding tears for days on end. Eventually, they managed to convince their father to relocate, but he chose not to go with them. Instead, he quickly remarried after their departure. However, she must acknowledge that his decision to clear their path forward was the greatest act of kindness he could have done for them.

• During her teenage years, she encountered various financial hardships. When discussing this during an interview, she expressed that despite her sister marrying a wealthy man, their financial situation did not improve. They found themselves in a desperate state, struggling to even afford basic necessities. She sat with her mother, contemplating their options. At the age of 16, she had a sudden realization that she wanted to pursue dancing. However, there was a weight requirement of 51-52 kilos, and she weighed 63 kilos. Determined to achieve her goal, she worked tirelessly, adhering to a strict diet of salads and practicing pilates. Remarkably, within just one month, she managed to shed 11 kilos.

• Demet Özdemir began her career as a backup dancer for Turkish singer Bengü. In addition, she has contributed to the music videos for Bengü’s ‘Hodri Meydan’ (2016) and Mustafa Sandal’s ‘Ateş Et ve Unut’ (2009). Notably, ‘Hodri Meydan’ includes a memorable still image featuring Demet Özdemir.

• As a dancer, Demet subsequently became a member of ‘Efes Kızları,’ a Turkish dance group.
