| Controversy | On 1 May 2023, he had a fight with Virat Kohli in the IPL match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants. Virat also had a spat with Amit Mishra. The problem started in the 17th over of Lucknow’s innings where Kohli and Naveen were seen giving angry stares at each other. Later, Virat was seen showing his shoe and pointing at Naveen as retaliation. Kohli was also seen warning Amit Mishra to calm down Naveen. After the match ended, when the players shook hands, Kohli and Naveen also shook but there was an argument between them. At first, Kohli did not pay attention to it but Naveen kept holding his hand and saying something. However, Glenn Maxwell stepped in and tried to stop them. After this scene, Kohli again had a heated argument with LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir. After the controversy, Kohli talked about the incident on his Instagram story and wrote, “Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is a perspective, not the truth.” Replying to Kohli, Naveen took to Instagram and posted a story saying “You get what you deserved that’s how it should be and that’s how it goes.” Later, BCCI took strict action against Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir and Naveen-ul-Haq. Kohli, Gambhir were fined 100% of their match fees after they were found guilty of a Level 2 offence while Naveen-ul-Haq lost 50% of his match fees for his Level 1 offence. Gambhir, Kohli and Naveen admitted to their respective offences and apologized. [2]Hindustan Times [3]Hindustan Times [4]News 18 |
