| Controversies | • Acquired the Properties Unlawfully With the growing popularity of Bageshwar Dham, the prices of land in the area also increased. Even the rent of a shop was increased to Rs 1 lakh per month. According to the sources, Dhirendra and his associates took it as an advantage and decided to acquire more land in the village. Initially, they started acquiring the government land including a crematorium, pond, and mountain. With his political influence, he even prepared the legal documents of the property. Later, a community building was also acquired by Dhirendra which was built with the funds of the panchayat. Reportedly, he threatened a few villagers to acquire their land. Once, his associates even ran a JCB on the houses of a few villagers who had refused to leave their land for him. In an interview, some of the villagers even said that he had the power because of his good relationship with Madhya Pradesh’s political leaders. [9]Dainik Bhaskar• Promoted Untouchability Among People In 2022, during his spiritual event, his devotee named Jeevan came near him to touch his feet, he stopped him and said, “Just don’t touch us, we are untouchable people.” Immediately, one of his associates took the man away from Dhirendra. The tweet reads, “Misleading propaganda was done by posting the edited video.” • Accused of Promoting Religious Discrimination “I swear to you, to the people of the whole of India. You have an oath. Whoever opposes Sanatan, whether he is a leader or an actor. Look, you people had boycotted the film of an actor, then everyone started tying kalavas, and applying tilak. Take an oath today that you will not watch films of such people by raising both your hands.” In one of his other spiritual events, he targetted Muslims and Christians by saying, “Stay away from chadar and father.” • Case Field for Promoting Superstition “I don’t have anything to prove. I just do what he (Bageshwar Balaji) inspires me to do. I am just a servant at the feet of Bageshwar Balaji. I do as he inspires me.” Later, when Shyam was asked about challenging Dhirendra. He said, Later, Dhirendra accepted the challenge and invited Shyam to his event in Raipur which was scheduled on 20 January 2023 and 21 January 2023. In an interview, Dhirendra talked about it, he said, “Earlier, I held a court for seven days but you didn’t come. If I get a chance, I will come again. But now, I accept your challenge. You are welcome to Raipur between January 20-21. I will hold the court there. I will pay for your ticket.” He even said that he did not possess any super natural powers and it was Lord Hanumana who had guided him throughout. • ‘Hindu Rashtra’ remark in Bihar and other related controversies “This Baba is abusing Biharis and calling them ‘pagal’. | Controversies | • A Situation of Stampede at His Spiritual Event In 2023, Pandit Pradeep organised a Shiva Purana Katha and Rudraksha Mahotsav event in Madhya Pradesh on the eve of Maha Shivratri. On the day of the event, a more than expected crowd gathered there which created a situation of ruckus. During the stampede, a few people died on the spot. Some of the family members of the victims accused Pandit Pradeep of not making proper arrangements while some other people blamed the local administration for not making proper arrangements for handling the crowd. Later, a woman from the crowd blamed Pandit’s nephew for mishandling her. After considering all the incidents, the local administration asked Pandit Pradeep to wrap up the Rudraksha Mahotsav. Later, when Pandit Pradeep was asked about the situation at his spiritual event, he said that he was unaware of the stampede. [3]ABP Live He further said, “I do not have any clear information in this regard. Whoever has come here has to go, even if it is me.” • Passed Derogatory Comments During His Kathas Most of the time, he is in news for passing objectional statements against various communities. He once said that India is a Hindu Rashtra which was not well received by various sections of Indian society. The people of the Bhim Army even asked him to apologise for his statement. In one of his pravachans, he said that one boy from every Indian family must join Sangh or Bajrang Dal. The local Congress objected to his statement. The international organisation All World Gayatri Pariwar once accused him of making fun of their sutra sentence ‘Hum badlenge, yug badlega, Hum sudhrenge, yug sudhrega’ during his Shri Maa Tapti Shivmahapuran Katha. | Controversies | • Allegations of Rape Against the Nephew of ‘Guruji’ [1]National Herald India Allegedly, Navdeep Singh, who is also known as Gaurav and is the nephew of ‘Guruji,’ was accused in 2021 of sexually assaulting a woman named Asha. Asha claims that she met Gaurav at the temple with her family in 2013, and he gradually began to pay more attention to her.Reportedly, in March 2019, Gaurav called Asha to discuss a dream he had about her and the future of the sect. He requested Asha to meet him on April 4, 2019 and sent his vehicle to pick her up. Asha was allegedly taken to a farmhouse near the temple where Gaurav told her that Guruji had appeared in his dream and told him that Asha was destined to be his wife and bear a male child to continue Guruji’s legacy. Gaurav allegedly gave Asha a drugged religious offering that made her feel lifeless and lightheaded. Then, he conducted a ‘marriage’ ceremony by chanting shlokas in front of a ‘havan’ before allegedly raping her in another room. Over the next several months, Gaurav allegedly took Asha to the farmhouse or a nearby hotel, where he promised her that his divorce would be finalized soon. In September 2019, Asha’s husband asked her about her frequent visits outside the home, and she revealed her relationship with Gaurav. Her husband applied for a divorce, and when Gaurav found out that Asha had informed her husband, he reportedly began to avoid her and later threatened her. Asha approached the Vikas Puri police station on September 5, 2020, after recovering from the alleged ordeal, to register a complaint. The final verdict is still pending, and these are all allegations. |
